Marching Band

The Prosper Mighty Eagle Band is a ‘state of the art’ competitive marching band and explores the latest trends in the competitive marching arts. The marching band provides an outlet for students interested in the realm of design, performance, leadership, social, and competitive opportunities.

Auditions

All band members must complete a successful audition for placement into all sections of the Mighty Eagle Band (winds, color guard, & percussion). All potential members that audition will be granted membership based on the quality of their performance ability - both musically and visually.

Two components are factored into the marching band audition: the concert ensemble music audition in the Spring, and a marching visual demonstration audition following the training camps. Previous history including attendance and academic eligibility will also be considered into the audition.

Students that are not assigned a Primary Marcher position with the competition marching band will perform in the “Spirit Show” at some varsity football games. These students will become Challengers who will train and study the music and drill positions of a Primary Marcher of their choice. Each week, a Challenger can demonstrate their practiced ability to a Director for an opportunity to perform in the next upcoming performance.

Rehearsals

Audition Camps, Pre-Season Trainings, Summer Technique & Pass-Offs, August Camp, after-school rehearsals (see CALENDAR for details).

Performances

The award-winning Prosper High School Mighty Eagle Marching Band is one of the largest student organizations on campus with over 250 students involved. Musicians and Color Guard in 9th, 10th, 11th, and 12th grades make up one of the premier 5A bands in the nation. All musicians in Marching Band must be enrolled in one of the PHS concert bands.

Students are able to earn a P.E. and/or fine arts credit through their participation. The Marching Band season begins with Spring Training Sessions, which includes incoming 9th grade students, just prior to the end of the school year. Band Camp begins in late July with daily sessions running to the first day of classes. Weekly before or after school rehearsals start the first week of classes, and the Marching Band performs at all football games. All participants are required to attend all rehearsals and performances.

The Marching Band performs in several competitions on fall Saturdays in local contests, UIL, and Bands of America circuits.
